The Challenge
Execute a contemporary home using the latest in energy-efficient, low maintenance building materials and modern accents.
The Project
A skillful combination of contemporary concepts and traditional styling, this three-level open concept home exudes both warmth and space. Hardwood sepeli floors are offset by traditional wide painted moldings throughout, while lighting fixtures and cabinetry alternate successfully between modern and art deco aesthetics.
The exterior is crafted using cut field stone and EIFS—an attractive, insulating synthetic stucco. Overhead doors, wood soffit and other exterior trim are made of hemlock, and the roof is accented with solid copper flashing. Four patio areas, including a second-level veranda, overlook the Fox River.
